Q. Which areas do you cover?

A. All of Auckland.

Q. Why choose us?

A. A few cases below that saved some buyers a few pennies.

Toyota Prius 2015 – We carried out an initial battery inspection along with a diagnostic scan to find no outstanding faults with this car. The initial battery check seemed good from data we observed but after a test drive and putting it under several different loading conditions, we discovered a few blocks in the high voltage battery were pushing past normal values. Based off the data, if block voltages pushed out further, a “check hybrid system” message would pop up and highly likely require a replacement hybrid battery.

Nissan Leaf 2017 – The buyer told us the vehicle drove well and thought it was a great buy. He mentioned there weren’t any issues. When we inspected this vehicle, the initial tests were bad right from the get go. We noticed a warning lamp on the dashboard after moving the vehicle from a car park to another spot. Ran a diagnostic scan and found issues with the braking system. They use a thing called an “i-Brake” unit which is a brake master cylinder with a control module attached to it. And yes, not cheap to repair.

Nissan Tiida 2008 – On a test drive we discovered an interesting whining sound with an intermittent vibration going from a stopped position. Issue was a slipping CVT belt in the transmission that the buyer was completely unaware of. Cost of repair would have been in the thousands.

Audi A4 2.0 Turbo 2015 – We ran an initial diagnostic scan on arrival which checked out with no faults detected. We test drove the vehicle without an issue. Went to park the vehicle to finalize the inspection by running a 2nd diagnostic scan. Surprisingly a fault code came up related to the transmission. Test drove the vehicle again and a warning lamp came up on the dashboard to confirm our findings from our scan. In my honest opinion, not a cheap repair.

Mazda CX-5 2012 – Vehicle drove almost perfectly with no issues we could see from a test drive. Carried out a diagnostic scan and noticed the vehicle overheated in the last 500kms based off saved data (freeze frame data). Under further investigation, the vehicle had logged an “Engine oil deteriorated” code and discovered the vehicle had oil contamination causing vehicle to overheat. We have had cases where the entire engine needed to be replaced due to a similar fault. Cost of repair would have been huge!

Volkswagen Golf GTI 2009 – We carried out an exterior inspection and noticed the front of the vehicle seemed off. Under further investigation, the bonnet, guards and head lights did not line up well. Looking from the bottom, it was missing plastic trims and had structural deformities due to a collision. This was not told to the interested buyer.

Holden Colorado 2018 – We had a customer from down the line who needed an inspection done. Overall, the vehicle was in good condition and drove well. Even the diagnostic scan came out good with only a few false positive fault codes we suspect were related to a bad 12v battery. Anyhow, we noticed a very light engine knock at idle and investigated further listening in to the engine with a stethoscope. On cylinder 2, there was a noticeable difference in comparison to the other cylinders we checked and confirmed the injector needed replacement. The price on an injector alone is over $1000 each not including replacement.

Q. What’s the difference between us and other pre purchase providers?

A. Why don’t you try us and find out :) …In all honesty, we genuinely care, take pride in our work and try to interpret automotive jargon to someone who has limited knowledge about cars.
